The year 2019 is the 350th year since establishment of the University of Zagreb, 100th year of study of electrical engineering and the 63rd year of autonomous Faculty of Electrical Engineering. In 1995 the Faculty changed its name becoming the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER) reflecting the fact that eminent professionals in electrical engineering but also in computing have been coming from this institution. The primary mission of the Faculty is to prepare students to perform direct tasks on their workplaces. However, what might be even more important is to accept permanent education as a necessity in a profession that is undergoing dramatic changes. The present research and educational staff comprises more than 200 professors and 150 teaching and research assistants. The Faculty has developed respectable international cooperation with many institutions around the world.

The University of Zagreb, founded in 1669, is the oldest Croatian university and the largest university in the region of South-East Europe. Consisting of 33 constituent units (29 faculties, 3 art academies and the Centre for Croatian Studies), the University of Zagreb is the flagship University in Croatia. Sveučilište u Zagrebu, osnovano 1669., najstarije je hrvatsko sveučilište i najveće sveučilište u jugoistočnoj Europi. Sveučilište čine 34 sastavnice koje nude sveobuhvatno visokoškolsko obrazovanje i stjecanje akademskih stupnjeva, od prvostupnika, magistra do doktora znanosti u biomedicinskom, biotehničkom, društveno-humanističkom, prirodoslovnom, tehničkom i umjetničkom području. Sveučilište se ističe u nastavnom i istraživačkom radu, pridonoseći godišnjoj istraživačkoj produktivnosti u Hrvatskoj s više od 50 posto.
